Our church

Discovering God Empowering People

We are a church who assist people with their ongoing journey of discovering God and being empowered to fulfil God’s purpose for their lives

But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name. John 1:12 (KJV)
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
But you will receive power and ability when the Holy Spirit comes upon you … Acts 1:8 (AMP)

Our history

How we began

Discovery Elim began life as Kelson Christian Centre, holding our first service in November 1996 at the Kelson Community Centre. As our congregation expanded, we moved services to the Kelson Primary School, before starting to plan for our own purpose-built facility.

We held the first service in our new building on 11 February 2007, with an adjoining Early Learning Centre opening in April. It was then that we changed our name to Discovery Christian Centre.
A few years later, we joined the Elim movement, holding our inaugural service as Discovery Elim Christian Centre on 1 May 2011.
